The Four Landscape Studio team worked together with Christou Design Group, an artist group, the Town of Cambridge and the community to develop and deliver the outdoor spaces at the iconic City Beach precinct. The new facilities include a surf club building, three commercial tenancies, public amenities and a major public open space.

A shaded promenade, complete with sun lounge terrace overlooking the beach, affords an elevated experience of the WA coastline. Nearby, a large amphitheatre – strategically positioned to maximise ocean views and protection from the wind – provides a space for people to gather.

The project’s planting palette, selected for its suitability to the coastal location, connects the dunal landscape to the north and east of the redevelopment with the southern section creating a link across the site. A number of significant Norfolk Island Pines were successfully relocated as part of the project, to maintain vertical relief and continued contextual connection to the surrounding suburbs.
